Downtown Honolulu has become the spot for up-and-coming restaurants, boasting edgy dishes and daring food concepts. Still, there are times, especially during the long workweek, when you just want something simple to eat — something comforting. And no one does comfort food quite like L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.

With countless locations statewide (including a downtown location in Fort Street Mall), on the mainland and around the globe, the eatery finds a special place in the happy hearts and tummies of all who stop by.

Offering local food with a lot of love, all at an affordable price, diners delight in favorites such as Barbecue Cheeseburger, Chicken Katsu, Spam Saimin and even healthier options such as Healthy Garlic Shrimp.

With a long list of choices, the one thing that remains the same is the quality and nostalgia that come with each delicious bite.

BREAKFAST OF CHAMPS

The best part about breakfast is that it can be enjoyed any time of day. L&L Hawaiian Barbecue proudly offers the most popular local breakfast item, Loco Moco ($8.75), and has made its version the only one you’d ever want to eat. It comes with two scoops of rice (white or brown), mac salad, two yummy beef patties, two fresh fried eggs and a generous amount of brown gravy. A mini serving also is available for $7.25.
