Canton Seafood Restaurant stands at the corner of Keeaumoku and Liona streets as a beacon for delicious Chinese food in the Honolulu area. Not only does the establishment serve up Cantonese-style cuisine, but it dabbles in Mandarinand Sichuan-style cooking, too.

The eatery uses only quality meats and fresh vegetables in its dishes, and recently has even added healthier items to its extensive menu. Consider Pork with Celery and Mushroom ($13.99 regular, $9.99 special) and Green Pepper with Pork ($13.99 regular, $9.99 special), which are both on special starting today through the month of November.

You also won’t want to pass up Snow Peas and Celery with Black Fungus ($10.99 regular, $8.99 special), which also is on special, featuring snow peas, celery, carrots and cloud ear fungus, which is commonly used in Chinese cooking. The vegetable and mushroom medley is quickly stir-fried in a hot wok with a light, savory sauce.

Choose Canton Seafood for all of your celebration and party needs, as the restaurant boasts ample tables and seating. And during lunch, choose from more than 50 lunch-special items, priced from $6.99 to $8.50.

FISHING AROUND

A Canton Seafood Restaurant dish that looks as extravagant as it tastes is Fried Fish with Sweet Vinegar and Onion ($18.99 regular, $12.99 special; on special throughout November). A whole flounder is filleted, lightly battered and deep-fried. It’s then topped with veggies (bell peppers and onions) that have been stir-fried in a red sweet-and-sour sauce. Everything is served in the fried flounder, which acts as a deliciously edible bowl.
