Thai Lao Restaurant takes pride in many things, from great food to friendly service, and most of all, ohana.

“The customers that come in are a part of our family; whatever they want, we serve it,” says chef Mani Phongsavath.

This hospitality has made quite the impression on Pearl City residents since Thai Lao’s opening in February. The eatery serves a mixture of Thai, Laotian and Vietnamese foods, and customers keep coming back for more.

Upon entering, guests are greeted with smiling faces eager to satisfy their appetites. One of Thai Lao customers’ favorite meals is Fried Fish Fillet with Chili Sauce ($12.95). It’s made with basa fish — which diners love because it’s boneless and tender — and is stir fried with a special sauce, red and green bell peppers, and white and green onions.

Thai Lao Restaurant also offers a VIP room that seats up to 50 people, so give the eatery a call to reserve the room for your next party.

A FAMOUS SPECIALTY

Customers can’t go wrong with Thai Lao’s Sweet Crispy Noodles ($8.95 with tofu, $9.95 with chicken). Served as an appetizer, this mountain of crisp rice noodles comes drizzled with a sweet tangy sauce, and is mixed with bean sprouts, kaffir lime leaves, pickled garlic and red onion. It’s a crowd favorite because, according to Phongsavath, it’s fun to eat, light and so tasty that a customer even asked for his autograph a few months ago after trying the dish.
