People’s Cafe prides itself on its home-cooked Hawaiian grinds and authentic Filipino food. The restaurant has been in business for years, and in 2004, Tomas Ventura took ownership. The menu is impressive with a surplus of options, however, patrons always gravitate to the famous Hawaiian Plate, which is a top-seller. Recently, People’s Cafe surprised customers by unveiling a couple of new items on the menu. Trio ($13.95), for instance, features salmon, shrimp skewers and steak served with rice. It’s the perfect choice for those with big appetites. Ventura also recommends the restaurant’s House Special ($14.95) with lomi lomi salmon, poi, short ribs, haupia, poke and lau lau filled with pork and butterfish. People’s Cafe is located at 1310 Pali Hwy. For more information, call 521-5552.
