Hole-in-one for local eatery’s new spot

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue’s newest location is now open to the public — though it’s a little more hidden than other locations.

The newest L&L — which officially opened Saturday, Sept. 10, and is called L&L Hawaiian Grill — is located in the Ala Wai Golf Course Clubhouse. There even is ample parking in the exterior lot of the golf course, according to manager Jessica Chen.

This branch of L&L differs from others because the menu features more pupu items, Chen explains.

Fried Chicken Wings ($8.99 for seven pieces)

“We try to bring more pupu-style menus because we are the first L&L location that will be able to sell liquor,” she says. “We’re still waiting for our liquor license, but once we get it, we’ll have more pupus coming up.”

Some of the popular items from the pupu section of the menu include Salt and Pepper Pork Chop ($8.99) and Fried Chicken Wings ($8.99 for seven pieces). Chen also adds that Cream Cheese Wontons ($6.99 for seven) and Garlic Cheese Fries ($4.99) have been huge hits so far.

“You can get the chicken wings pupu-style or in a plate lunch,” Chen says. “Plate lunches come with two scoops of white rice and one scoop of mac salad. Or, you can choose brown rice and green salad.”

Oxtail Soup ($8.95 small, regular $12.99), however, reigns as one of the most popular dishes from the regular menu. Whether you’re in the mood for pork, beef, chicken or seafood, or want combos of each, L&L has got you covered.

Chen encourages customers to come check out L&L Hawaiian Grill and enjoy a peaceful meal overlooking the green golf course.

“We have a lot of new things (on our menu),” Chen shares. “We’re open to the public and feature both dine-in service and takeout.”
