All-you-can-eat buffets are simply heaven for all us food lovers living in Hawaii, and Makino Chaya offers up a great spread for lunch and dinner. But, no spread would be complete without a hearty helping of desserts to end the perfect meal.

As if the overgenerous dessert bar wasn’t enough, there also is a chocolate fountain, which means you can drench whatever sweet treat you choose in the even sweeter flowing chocolate.

Keiki love chocolate fountains, and Dining Out believes there’s a child in all of us who loves chocolate on everything!

Most desserts at the restaurant are from JJ Bistro & French Pastry, so you know they’re good and made with the best quality of ingredients.

Fresh Crepes are made to order and can be filled with such delights such as chocolate, strawberries and bananas (and don’t forget the whipped cream and ice cream with rainbow sprinkles).

JJ Bistro & French Pastry’s bite-sized minis adorn the table and come in great flavors like decadent chocolate, green tea, red velvet, passion fruit, mango, blueberry cheesecake, tiramisu and Kona coffee.

If the gnawing in your belly is telling you it wants chocolate, then Chocolate Pyramid (chocolate mousse cake) is a must-have.

“They can buy it for $1.99, but if it’s their birthday it’s free,” says Makino Chaya president Jo Makino. “They can choose one of JJ’s Chocolate Pyramids, or they can get a wedge of the RB’s Ice Cream Pie.”

There also are RB Ice Cream Pie desserts that come in assorted flavors to suit any craving (mango, red velvet, green tea and Kona coffee).

For almost 10 years, Makino Chaya in Westridge Shopping Center has offered great eats at affordable prices to people all over the island.

Pair indulgent seafood with local favorites and add a little dessert at the end, and you’ll be a happy camper for days to come.
