When it comes to an establishment like Kenny’s Restaurant, which has been a staple in Kalihi for the past 45 years and counting, it’s rare to come across a special dish that has yet to be sampled by many. Of course, the eatery has made a name for itself with its Kenny’s Celebrated Chinese Chicken Salad ($10.79) and its Thick & Juicy Pork Chops ($16.99), but there are two off the menu items that will have you drooling as well.

“The Baked Chicken with Mushroom Sauce ($14.99) and Shrimp Scampi ($15.99) are two dishes that are not listed on our regular menu, but this week — if you request it — we’ll be offering them as specials,” says chef Ernesto Yeban.

Take a break from your usual Kenny’s favorites and sink your teeth into a homemade meal of baked chicken, just like mama used to make. Kenny’s Baked Chicken with Mushroom Sauce features the most tender chicken breast, topped with a rich and savory sherry wine and mushroom home-style gravy to complete the dish. Now, if you’re more of a seafood aficionado, you’ll be pleased to partake in a divine order of Shrimp Scampi. Imagine morsels of shrimp by the forkful, dripping in a succulent sauce comprised of melted butter, bits of garlic, sweet paprika, a squeeze of lemon and a dash of white wine. Who knew a simple meal could be this extraordinary?

These off the menu items also are paired with your choice of mashed potatoes, rice or french fries and a medley of mixed vegetables.

So, now that Dining Out has revealed two of Kenny’s Restaurant’s delectable entrees that have usually been kept under wraps, take your appetites and savor the moment while supplies last.
