Big City Diner corporate executive chef Dennis Franks invites hungry patrons to head to one of the eatery’s five locations.

Big City Diner knows that the quickest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. It’s why the local eatery has a plethora of family packs for the upcoming holiday that everyone will love.

Up for grabs once more — fans of Big City Diner will remember these from Christmas and New Year’s — are prime rib and breakfast meals for the Feb. 12-15 weekend. Both are available in limited quantities and require at least 72 hours notice (call in or place an order online).

Surf-N-Turf: Prime Rib + Krabby Cake Combo ($39.99)

“Our regulars have been asking when we’re going to do them again,” says owner Lane Muraoka.

Valentine’s Day proved the perfect holiday to bring these special packs back. “We have people buying these for mom and dad, or grandpa and grandma, and the best part is that no one has to cook,” he continues.

The Valentine’s Prime Rib Family Pack ($169.99) serves four to five people and comes with 3 1/2 pounds of USDA Choice Hawaiian rock salt prime rib, 2 pounds of roasted garlic mashed potatoes, buttered sautéed vegetables, a large Caesar salad with local Roma tomatoes, five Snow Krabby Cakes topped with sweet chili aioli, and homemade roasted macadamia nut bread pudding with a hearty serving of haupia creme sauce.

“Tita-I-Miss-You” Torte ($7.49)

Early risers — or those who just love breakfast foods — can look forward to a Valentine’s Breakfast Family Pack for just $74.99. The meal, which serves a family of four to six, comes with 10 pieces of Ani’s Awesome Cinnamon Bread French Toast, four pieces of homemade breakfast bread pudding (with haupia creme sauce), 10 scrambled eggs, 10 pieces of grilled Portuguese sausage, five Snow Krabby Cakes topped wth sweet chili aioli, and six scoops of steamed white rice. There’s an option to upgrade your starch to Uncle Danny’s Fried Rice for an additional $7.47, or kimchee fried rice for $8.97.

Dining with your special someone? Big City Diner has individual plates for breakfast, lunch and dinner. First up is a Snow Krabby Cake Eggs Benedict ($15.99) that’s available until 3 p.m. (or until it’s sold out). Featuring poached local eggs, this dish sits atop two crispy snow crab cakes and is covered with a sweet chili drizzle. Choose from golden hash browns, paniolo potatoes, or white or brown rice to round out the meal.

Krabby Cake Sandwich ($5, Mondays and Tuesdays only)

Late risers, meanwhile, can look forward to brunch/ dinner plates starting at 11 a.m. Decide between a USDA Choice Hawaiian Rock-Salt Prime Rib plate ($32.99) and Surf-N-Turf: Prime Rib + Krabby Cake Combo ($39.99) that offers the best of both worlds — and add a small green salad for only $3.99.

Finally, no Valentine’s meal would be complete without a delectable dessert to end things on a sweet note, and Big City Diner delivers in a big way with its “Tita-I-Miss-You” Torte ($7.49). The coffee-flavored tiramisu (get it?) is layered with mascarpone cheese and unsweetened cocoa. Get it a la mode with vanilla bean ice cream for ($9.99).

For the month of February (Mondays and Tuesdays only), snag a takeout Krabby Cake Sandwich with Sriracha aioli and sweet chili slaw between two grilled potato buns. Limit is four sandwiches per person, per day — while supplies last.

Not feeling seafood? Don’t worry! Big City Diner rotates sandwiches each month.

Valentine’s Day Vino

You don’t have to splurge on wine this Valentine’s Day. Big City Diner offers 50 percent off bottles of wine online at bigcitydinerhawaii.com. And, look forward to Wine Wednesday, featuring half-off bottles and glasses of wine for dine-in and takeout (bottles only).
