A grand feast that can’t be beat

If you’ll be entertaining over the holidays this year, you’re probably just about ready to start planning your menu. Whether you’re hosting a Thanksgiving banquet for a big gathering of friends and family, an intimate New Year’s dinner for two, or something in between, Times Supermarkets has a lovely selection of very special treats that will make any holiday meal deliciously memorable.

For the absolute finest sushi or sashimi, visit your favorite Times location anytime between now and Nov. 20 to place your order for Otoro – bluefin tuna belly. “Blue-fin has three different cuts — the akami, which comes from the back of the fish; the chutoro, part of the belly to the tail; and the otoro, from the underside of the belly,” explains Derek Iha, director of seafood operations for the supermarket. “The otoro is the most coveted and desirable part.”

Because of its richness and high fat content, otoro can be a bit more expensive than other parts of the bluefin, but it’s worth every cent.

“Bluefin tuna are farm-raised in really cold Japanese waters, and they build up fattiness to keep warm,” says Iha. “The otoro has so much fat content that it melts in your mouth!”

Until it’s gone, the otoro will be available at $52.99 per pound. For Thanksgiving, otoro orders will be accepted now through Nov. 20, for Nov. 27 pickup. Christmas otoro orders will be accepted from Dec. 4 to 15 for pickup on Dec. 23 and 24. Place your New Year’s orders between Dec. 6 and 22, with pickup on Dec. 30 and 31.

If you need to impress some carnivorous VIPs at your holiday celebration, Times has just the thing.

“It’s the first time we’re advertising it for the holidays: Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Boneless Rib-Eye,” says Chester Gumban, TIMES’ director of meat operations. Priced at $109.99 per pound, the beef is sourced from the famed Japanese Black cattle of Kyushu, Japan.

With 15 Oahu locations to serve you, Times has plenty of other rare holiday treats to enhance your menu. Poke and Sashimi Platters, just right for parties with 12-15 guests, are available with advance notice at market price. They’re the perfect pupus for a dinner that features a Sterling Silver Standing Rib Roast, sold exclusively in Hawaii by Times Supermarket.

For larger holiday celebrations, pre-order a Whole Pig, Lechon-Style, for just $3.29 per pound. Frozen and uncooked, at weights of 65-100 pounds, your pig will be dressed, with head intact, and ready for the rotisserie!

ALL THE MEAT YOU CAN EAT

Your elegant dinner party will be the talk of the town when you serve a Sterling Silver Standing Rib Roast, sold at market price exclusively by Times Supermarket. Hand-selected from the top tier of Choice grade beef, Sterling Silver is highly marbled for exceptional flavor. “You cannot beat this roast; it’s so good!” says Chester Gumban, Times’ director of meat operations. “You can order any size you want; the minimum is two ribs. Some customers order all seven ribs for the holidays!”
