Lechon (January special)

At Makino Chaya in Aiea, diners can fill their stomachs with scrumptious bites from the buffet, a perfect way to start the new year off on a great note.

The eatery presents a lineup of good eats, including new additions. “Every month we try to change up what we are serving,” says general manager Chris Mitchell.

This month, be on the lookout for Lechon (pork belly), which is on special until the end of January for buffet dinners from Friday to Sunday.

Mitchell recommends that customers call ahead to make sure the eatery is still stocked with the items they are hungry for, and to see what’s on special, as they vary.

What’s more, diners can relish in the Early Bird Special, which is back at Makino Chaya. From Monday to Thursday, 5:30-6:30 p.m., guests can enjoy the buffet for just $23.98 (as long as everyone is seated and ordering the special).

LEAPING FOR LECHON

Take in all that 2018 has to offer, starting with the excellent buffet spread at Makino Chaya. Start with Lechon (pork belly), which is a special this month and only available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday dinners. The pork belly is first boiled then baked before being fried up to reach that maximum crunchy goodness. Also, get your claws on lobster, which is available from Friday to Sunday (dinner only).
