A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: Signature Coconut Curry Opah ($28)

There’s a space in Lotus Honolulu — a chic, intimate hotel at the end of Waikiki (once The W Hotel) — where most will remember the former Bobby Mc-Gee’s or W Nightclub. Many may have even wondered over the years, “What ever happened to that place?” Honoring the legacy of those iconic establishments with a sophisticated and modernized upgrade, Wisp is now the place to take note of.

Whether you’re looking for a local breakfast, a pau hana spot or a place to have a romantic dinner, the bar and lounge has got you covered with Hawaii Regional Cuisine must-haves and a top-notch selection of beverages. Additionally, the new business, which opened Nov. 11, offers two happy hours every day. From 4 to 6 p.m., and again from 9 to 11 p.m., patrons can order $6 wines by the glass and $3 Stella Artois drafts. Also enjoy live music on Fridays and take advantage of ample parking around Kapiolani Park or valet parking at the hotel.

It may not be what you remember, but Wisp will leave its own lasting impression. Start with unforgettable dishes such as Hawaiian Loco Moco for breakfast or Mentaiko Pasta and Signature Coconut Curry Opah for dinner — the latter of which boasts fluffy, white fish in an irresistible yellow curry sauce.

And don’t overlook Wisp’s desserts, including Mochurro, which features fried mochi-churro bites coated in cinnamon sugar and your choice of either chocolate-coffee sauce or lilkoi-curd sauce.
