Asian Mix continues to bolster its reputation for serving up a multitude of tastes and flavors from around the Pacific Rim, coupled with speedy, stellar customer service.
Situated conveniently at the corner of Beretania and Piikoi streets on the ground level of the Safeway complex, Asian Mix serves up quality menu items at affordable prices without the long wait times usually associated with ordering food.
“The idea is that people can come — there is plenty of free parking — and pick something up before they get on the freeway to go home, or head back through town,” says owner Daniel Leung. “We believe that we’re the most reasonable place in town and offer excellent portions. You won’t be disappointed.”
Leung notes that some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes are influenced by Northern Chinese cooking styles and techniques, including the use of vinegar and spices to build flavor profiles. For instance, Kung Pao Chicken ($9.50) is constructed with a base of soy sauce, sugar, vinegar and wine before being fortified with a kick from chili peppers and green onions.
Mongolian Beef ($9.95) is another top-seller at Asian Mix and includes tender beef and green onion stir-fried in a wok amid a tasty blend of oyster sauce, soy sauce and wine.
Those looking for a meat-free option are in luck with Tofu & Eggplant in Garlic Sauce ($9.50), which packs plenty of flavor as a healthy menu choice.
Customers also may build their own Asian Mix Plate during the lunch rush from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a choice of side dish and variety of entrees ($5.75 for one, $7.45 for two and $8.95 for three). Leung notes that multiple entree selections are available each day for mix-plate combos, and customers are able to order and go in a matter of minutes.
Party trays also are available for any event, including holiday celebrations.
