As the time comes to honor the MVPs of the workplace and household, Pomaika‘i Ballrooms serves as the ideal setting for Administrative Professionals Day and Mother’s Day celebrations.

Situated conveniently on the second floor of Dole Cannery in Iwilei, Pomaika‘i Ballrooms offers elegance and style along with a warm, inviting atmosphere without the stress of fighting traffic into and out of Waikiki.

On Wednesday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pomaika‘i Ballrooms will host its highly anticipated Administrative Professionals Day luncheon for $45 per person ($3 validated parking available). The special event includes entertainment from Leo Days, who will pay tribute to Elvis Presley, and a menu featuring local flavors and Pacific Rim cuisine crafted by executive chef Freddie Billena and sous chef Eddy Ayau.

Reservations can be made by calling 695-4496; the last day to hold and pay for seats at this popular event is Monday, April 25.

The flavorful buffet will feature an array of entree choices: Chicken Puttanesca with tomatoes, potatoes, olives, capers and garlic; Steamed Hoki Oriental Style with ginger, cilantro and sesame oil; and Braised Boneless Short Ribs with Cabernet Sauce. Popular Elvis-inspired desserts also will grace the bountiful buffet, along with diners’ choice of brewed coffee, Harney and Sons hot tea and Mango Breeze iced tea.

Pomaika‘i Ballrooms and iHeart Radio are teaming up to present Mother’s Day, a special lunch buffet Sunday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., complete with entertainment from Amy Hanaiali‘i Gilliom, Kimie Miner, Mel Cabang, and emcees Slick Vic and Krey-Z Oshiro of Island 98.5’s Wake Up Crew.

Tickets for Mother’s Day are $72.50 for those ages 11 and over, and $36 for children ages 6-10 ($6 validated parking available). Gold Circle Table tickets also can be purchased ($90 for adults and $45 for children) for seats front-and-center with the best views of the stage.

Reservations can be made through Thursday, May 5 by calling 695-4496, and as a reminder, tickets are non-refundable.

At the Mother’s Day buffet, diners will enjoy the Oxtail Soup station with all the accompaniments, and patrons also can choose from Kim Chee Portuguese Bean Soup, Lau Lau with Pork and Fish, Kalua Pig and Awapuhi Chicken that’s roasted and served hot with zesty green-onion pesto. The buffet also will include desserts such as Haupia, French pastries and Warm Vanilla-Raisin Bread Pudding served with English Custard Sauce.

“You can’t beat our location. We’re near downtown so you don’t have to deal with the traffic and hustle-and-bustle in Waikiki,” says Ayau. “Convenience is definitely one of the important factors that goes into the experience you get here.”
