Asian Mix combines restaurant-quality flavors and options with the ease and comfort of fast food — a dream come true for many who are busy or on the go.

Owner Daniel Leung notes that every dish is made to order, so diners can expect fresh, hot entrees at every visit. The goal is to “get the best food to the people (at) the lowest prices,” he says.

The demand for healthier food options also is on the rise, and Asian Mix understands the importance of keeping up with the trends.

Many people in Hawaii love their soy sauce — they add it, quite generously, to almost everything. But thanks to Asian Mix, rice enthusiasts can enjoy Young Chow Fried Rice ($9.50) without the red and black bottle in hand. The fried rice is perfectly seasoned with natural flavors extracted from the stars of the dish — char siu (Chinese barbecue pork) and shrimp — along with egg, green onion and a hint of salt.

Sweet & Sour Pork Chops ($9.50) is another dish that keeps one’s taste buds and health in mind. For this entrée, only lean pieces of pork (90 percent lean) are used, to cut out excess fat. Also, most eateries coat the meat with a thick, flour-based batter, but

Asian Mix only lightly coats its pork. The succulent dish comes with carrots, pineapples and bell peppers to complement the homemade sweet and sour sauce.

Be sure to stop by soon because, for a limited time (Dec. 20-26), Sweet & Sour Pork Chops can be purchased for $6.95.

Asian Mix conveniently is located underneath Safeway on Beretania Street, so there is plenty of free parking. With fast parking and fast food, one simply can’t go wrong.
