It’s been a little over a year now since Cajun King joined the Kaneohe neighborhood in Windward City Shopping Center, and the consensus is still the same: It’s here to stay, and everyone is happy about it — and for good reason, too!

Among its many succulent seafood dishes, there are customizable combination meals in which you can pick and choose your seafood of choice, by the pound. Also available are fresh oysters, Asian-Style Specials and a Fried Basket section that is perfect for kids.

From the Asian-Style Specials, Ginger and Green Onion Lobster ($17) really shines, literally and figuratively. The glossy sauce covering the 1.5-pound Boston lobster glistens on the plate. Unlike the boiled menu options, this dish is cooked in a wok with green onions, slices of ginger and black bean sauce, plus a dash of salt and pepper.

If you’d rather have more of a variety, Cajun King’s set combinations are best. Combo No. 2 ($55), for example, includes Dungeness crab, crawfish, mussels, shrimp and clams. The seafood is boiled to perfection and brought to your table, which is covered in paper tablecloth, encouraging customers to get messy with their food. Be ready to share, as combos can serve up to two
