Crab House Makino in Waikiki offers an all you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffet consisting of more than 20 hot food items, including seafood and steak, as well as a variety of sushi, poke, salads and desserts.

Known for its extensive menu, great value and casual family-friendly setting, the restaurant opened in May and has quickly become a favorite for locals and visitors. Oftentimes, there’s a line of customers waiting to get in before the restaurant opens its doors each day.

Lunch is priced at just $16.98 daily ($14.98 for kamaaina Monday through Friday, $10.98 for kamaaina seniors age 65 and older Monday through Friday, and $11.98 for kamaaina seniors Saturday and Sunday).

Dinner is $22.98 Monday through Friday, and $23.98 Saturday and Sunday ($20.98 for kamaaina seniors Monday through Friday, $21.98 for kamaaina seniors Saturday and Sunday). A lobster buffet dinner also is available for $29.98.

The price for children 12 years and under is determined by height: 50 percent off the regular price for kids 4 to 5 feet tall, 75 percent off for 3 to 4 feet, and free if they’re under 3 feet.

Conveniently located at the corner of Ala Moana Boulevard and Ena Road (across from Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort), the spacious restaurant can seat about 600 people, and is popular for special occasions, such as birthday celebrations, retirement parties and holidays.

ALL YOU CAN EAT, AND THEN SOME

As the name of the restaurant suggests, Crab House Makino offers the all-time buffet favorite: crab legs!

But there also are many more tasty foods — about two dozen — on the buffet line, such as Makino’s No. 1 Orange Chicken, Fried Rice, New York Steak, Gyoza and Shrimp Siu Mai, as well as a large sushi, poke and salad bar.

The clams and mussels also are very popular, as the kitchen crew constantly is replenishing it throughout the day. The type of crab served varies between steamed Dungeness crab and Alaskan snow crab.

As for the dessert station, you’ll find about 40 different sweets, including crepes, ice cream, home-baked cakes and fresh fruits.
