Ahi & Vegetable is known for its abundance of fresh seafood. When its first location opened 11 years ago in Downtown Honolulu, demand for more gradually increased. This led to the eatery’s second location at Kapalama Shopping Center.

Now, with two locations, Ahi & Vegetable is able to please its customers with fresh fish every day, as its Kapalama branch is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Owner Sam Seo has a lot to offer the fish lovers of Hawaii. After more than 15 years of managing Sam’s Seafood Company — a wholesale company that serves fresh fish and “Hawaii tuna only” — Seo wanted to use his experience to open a restaurant.

“I wanted to sell the fresh tuna to customers directly, instead of only wholesale,” says Seo.

This week, he shares two of his favorite menu items with Dining Out: Ahi & Vegetable’s B9 Bento ($12) and C10 Sashimi with Hamachi Catering Platter ($60), all tax included.

The menu offers 10 different kinds of bentos, each for $12. B9 Bento includes poke, four pieces of California roll, two pieces of salmon nigiri and two pieces of ahi nigiri, all served with Miso Soup.

There are plenty of fish in the sea when it comes to Ahi & Vegetable’s catering menu as well, which offers 10 different catering platters to choose from. C10 Sashimi with Hamachi serves up plenty of ahi, salmon and hamachi — great for your next family party.

“It’s a good deal,” explains Seo, and it definitely is, because the freshness and quality in each dish are evident.

Be sure to stop by Ahi & Vegetable for a quick bite or to cater your upcoming holiday parties.
