Known for its light, fresh and delicate treats is world-renowned confectionary Minamoto Kitchoan. With more than 200 locations in Japan alone, and more around the world, Minamoto Kitchoan graced Hawaii with its presence in 2013. The shop specializes in “Wagashi” — which contains red bean, kidney beans, glutinous rice, powdered rice, sweet potatoes, sesame, agar-agar (Japanese gelatin) and sugar.

What distinguishes Minamoto’s wagashi from others is that it’s made with fresh fruit. Grown outdoors beneath Japan’s red sun, Minamoto’s wagashi is high in plant protein, which makes it a wholesome and healthy product.

THE SWEETEST GIFT

Just in time for the holidays, Minamoto Kitchoan is offering three gift assortments: Assortment A ($25), Assortment B ($40) and Assortment C ($50). Each comes with a variety of treats such as Fukuwatashi Senbei in both Matcha and Vanilla flavors, Momoaya, Oribenishiki, pouches of Grace Dew, Ayashirabe in both Matcha and Vanilla, and Langue De Chat.

Fukuwatashi is filled with sweet cream; Ayashirabe is a milk-flavored white bean paste wrapped in Japanese cake; Oribenishiki is a Japanese cake filled with chestnut paste and sweet red bean paste; and Langue De Chat is a chocolate cookie. Order your gift set by Nov. 27 and receive 5 percent off.
