After patrons raved about their first culinary venture Lobster King, restaurant owners June Kim and Jay Chen decided to kick the dining experience up a notch with the establishment of another regal dining endeavor: Cajun King Kaneohe.

The restaurant’s convenient Windward City Shopping Center locale next to American Savings Bank behind Foodland and Longs offers customers a vast array of fresh seafood selections — never frozen — and Cajun-style dishes.

“Our seafood is delivered fresh daily from Lobster King Seafood Market,” says manager Jin Chen, who notes that Cajun King Kaneohe has gained a loyal following since opening 10 months ago. “We prepare our Cajun-style dishes with local flavors.”

The restaurant features a clean, inviting dining area with tables that can be moved and combined to accommodate groups of all sizes. Diners are encouraged to call on Cajun King Kaneohe for special occasions, including birthday celebrations and graduation parties.

Cajun King Kaneohe offers an assortment of fresh seafood selections — Black Bean Clams ($16), anyone? — and stellar lunch specials available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., such as Cajun-Style Half Lobster with New York Steak ($12.99). Other specialties rule over the menu as well, including Stir-Fried String Beans with Garlic ($12).

Diners may reel in fresh seafood in the form of Dungeness crab ($32 each), king crab legs ($25 per pound), snow crab legs ($15 per pound), shrimp ($11 per pound), clams ($12 per pound), crawfish ($10 per pound) and mussels ($11 per pound). The selections also come with a choice of seasoning, including Cajun Style, Garlic Butter, Plain and Simple, Cajun/Garlic Butter and Lemon Garlic Butter, as well as heat levels ranging from mild or medium to volcanic. The seafood, seasonings and spices are served in a large bag, allowing customers to shake and mix their desired recipe until each fresh bite is smothered in flavor.

Cajun King Kaneohe offers up Special Combos, which are prepared by the restaurant’s skilled and friendly staff and brought directly to the table. Various combination platters include Combo No. 4 ($48) with snow crab legs, craw-fish, mussels, shrimp and clams. The bountiful platters include customers’ choices of heat levels and sauce and also come with potatoes, two corn on the cob, four sausages and rice.

Fried Baskets serve as great pupus and include Hot Wings ($9) seasoned with salt or Cajun spice. The baskets also come with a choice of regular or Cajun-style fries. And, what better way to enjoy one’s meal than with a soft drink with free refills ($2.99) or domestic ($1.99) and imported/premium ($2.99) beers — incredible deals fit for royalty.
