Summer has kicked off swimmingly, and never before has fresh seafood sounded so good. Located within the lower level of the beautiful Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa, Seafood Village Chinese Restaurant offers visitors and locals alike the best selections, all conveniently located in the center of where it’s all happening.

Manager Yao Ming Guan gives Dining Out the inside scoop about why, especially for local kamaaina, enjoying a lovely lunch at Seafood Village is a steal. “We want to get the word out to local families that we are a great option for lunch, especially with the generous discounts and specials we are offering now.”

One special in particular is the Lunch Party Menu ($11.95 per person). Catered to a minimum party of 10 persons, this proverbial feast of authentic Chinese fare is served family style and includes Chicken Salad with Oriental Dressing, four types of delicious dim sum (Barbecue Pork Bun, Chive Dumpling, Siu Mai and Seafood Dumpling), Salt and Pepper Calamari, Stir Fried String Beans, Sweet and Sour Pork, Minute Chicken Fried Noodle and Mango Pudding dessert.

The Sweet and Sour Pork — with its green and red peppers, onions, pineapple and sweet-and-sour sauce paired with generous cubes of pork — is popular among Seafood Village’s diners, as is Minute Chicken Fried Noodle, presenting pan-fried chicken over a bed of crispy noodles and choy sum. The assorted dim sum, an understood staple at any authentic Chinese meal, also is mouthwatering.

Seafood Village further sweetens the deal for kamaaina, offering Hawaii residents with valid IDs a 20 percent discount on any regular menu item at lunch (15 percent discount at dinner).

Additionally, the elegant Chinese restaurant is a perfect place to host parties, as Seafood Village features two private dining rooms (30-70 people capacity) that are available to be rented out for hosting your own intimate gatherings, such as birthday parties, graduation celebrations or even business meetings and anniversaries. So the next time you are in Waikiki, make it a win for lunch and head to Seafood Village for its kamaaina specials.
