As the calendar turns to November and brings with it the highly anticipated Thanksgiving holiday, visions of moist turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy shift into the spotlight.
Thanksgiving brings together family and friends for a variety of festive celebrations chock-full of food, football and merriment; however, it also tends to evoke moments of anxiety, as celebration hosts realize the time and stress usually involved in preparing and coordinating such a grand spread.
A Catered Experience is here to help by providing its annual Oven Roasted Turkey Package ($102.95 plus tax) that takes the stress and mess out of preparing a hearty Thanksgiving feast. The package includes: a 10- to 12-pound (cooked weight) tender, moist, whole roast turkey, fully cooked and served hot and ready to eat; four pounds of Poultry Gravy; four pounds of Real Mashed Potatoes; three pounds of Stuffing; one pound of Cranberry/Pineapple Relish; a dozen Dinner Rolls; and a Napoleon’s Bakery Pumpkin Pie. To aid in the preparation process, simple reheating instructions are provided for the relevant accompaniments (gravy, mashed potatoes and stuffing).

“We provide customers with convenience,” says Ron Hattori, general manager at A Catered Experience. “And picking up the Turkey Package is simple: You just drive up to the parking lot, hand the employees your receipt and you don’t even have to get out of your car. We’ll load up the car, and you can drive off.”
Diners also may add additional fixings to the Oven Roasted Turkey Package on an a la carte basis, including Maki Sushi Roll ($4, uncut); Dinner Rolls ($4.50 per dozen); Real Mashed Potatoes ($7 for two pounds); Napoleon’s Bakery Pumpkin Pie ($8); Napoleon’s Bakery Custard Pie ($8); Napoleon’s Bakery Apple Pie ($8); Poultry Gravy ($5 for two pounds); Stuffing ($7.50 for three pounds); Cranberry/Pineapple Relish ($3.50 for one-half pound); and Potato/Macaroni Salad ($7 for two pounds). And Chicken Nishime ($12 for two pounds), a Japanese stew made from chicken, konyaku, carrots, taro balls, lotus root, gobo, bamboo shoots and shiitake mushrooms simmered in an Osaka-style broth, is available as an add-on as well.
“We save the customers time, and save them the trouble of going to the store and buying all the ingredients, and putting everything together from scratch,” Hattori says.
A limited supply of the packages is available on a preorder basis, and Hattori encourages customers to submit their requests as soon as possible to ensure the order can be filled. A Catered Experience accepts checks and credit card payments, while cash payments must be made in person at the Waipio office. Oven Roasted Turkey Packages are available for pick up Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Hawaii Okinawa Center parking lot located at 94-587 Ukee St. in Waipio.
