Pomaikai Ballrooms is quickly becoming the go-to destination for those looking to take care of business in a convenient central locale capable of serving up a wide array of culinary creations.

While many guests have become familiar with Pomaikai Ballrooms as the ideal destination for birthday parties, graduation celebrations and other memorable gatherings, the downtown oasis also offers stellar value, quality cuisine and convenience for those starting the day with a business meeting or seminar.

Situated on the second floor of Dole Cannery in Iwilei, Pomaikai Ballrooms offers elegance and style, along with a warm, inviting atmosphere without the stress involved with fighting traffic into and out of Waikiki. With a central location just minutes away from downtown Honolulu and the airport, Pomaikai Ballrooms easily is accessible for both Oahu residents and those making outer-island commutes.

The venue opened last year after the space, formerly known as Dole Ballrooms, underwent a vast floor-to-ceiling renovation. Pomaikai Ballrooms and its friendly, knowledgeable staff are poised to host an array of events, including everything from a routine breakfast meeting for 20, seminars for 200 (complete with breakfast buffet) and company gatherings for 500.

The spacious facilities include The Hokulei Ballroom (11,194 square feet) and The Piilani Ballroom (7,399 square feet), which accommodate 700 and 400 people, respectively, based on stage set-up, and well over 1,000 and 600 when arranged reception style. Pomaikai Ballrooms also features a large, 6,000 square-foot foyer, the perfect venue for receptions, expos and more. The versatile facility offers approximately 1,200 parking stalls, a revamped air conditioning system, WiFi Internet throughout, enhanced stages and accompanying sound and lighting systems that serve as built-in, value-added amenities available for virtually any gathering.

“A lot of people are surprised to see the variety we have to offer,” says general manager Jeff Marcello. “We’ve had large companies and nonprofit organizations start off with breakfast buffets before business meetings and seminars. We also offer ‘Live Well’ menus that appeal to companies wanting to promote healthy living, and our unique offerings often become the theme of the event.”

Pomaikai Ballrooms invigorates any early-morning conference or meeting with a host of dining options, such as the popular “Live Well” menus (buffet starts at $20 per person, plus tax and gratuity). These healthy yet tasty options include Stir-Fried Oatmeal “Fried Rice” (many hesitate to try this dish that substitutes perfectly cooked oatmeal for rice, but end up asking for the recipe soon after trying it), as well as Baked Turkey Breakfast Links, Kettle-style Oatmeal and more.

Menu options also include traditional breakfast favorites: Portuguese sausage, bacon, fresh Island eggs and rice; Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream; and assortments of fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, pastries and Danishes (breakfast buffet starts at $20 per person, plus tax and gratuity).

Those attending quick meetings or following tight schedules are encouraged to enjoy “Breakfast-on-the-Go” selections (starting at $13 per person, plus tax and gratuity), including Low-Fat Vegetable and Cheese Frittata Whole Wheat Wrap, which is wrapped, boxed and ready to enjoy. A Continental Breakfast buffet (starting at $16 per person, plus tax and gratuity) also is available with assorted seasonal fruits, freshly baked pastries, petite bagels and beverages.

In addition, Pomaikai Ballrooms is poised to host lunch and dinner events and feature menus bursting with local flavors and Pacific Rim cuisine. The facilities are part of FCH Enterprises (the same culinary experts that have served Hawaii for generations via Zippy’s Restaurants, Napoleon’s Bakery and A Catered Experience), which elevates the dining and event experience to the upper echelon of customer satisfaction.

Guests are encouraged to log on to PomaikaiBall-rooms.com to view additional menu options, learn about the venue’s accommodations and even take a virtual photo tour of the facilities. Pomaikai Ballrooms accepts checks and credit card payments, and its skilled staffers are standing by to assist with arranging your ideal event.
