Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant’s eye-catching and ornate exterior is only a glimpse of what’s in store once you walk through its doors.

Expect flavorful dishes and a warm ambiance perfect for dining with friends and family. And, if you’re looking to throw a large party, the restaurant can accommodate groups of more than 300 people.

“(We have a) convenient location and great food,” says manager Gary Chan.

According to Chan, the establishment’s Hong Kong-style dim sum is very popular with customers, bringing in almost a full house during every lunch service.

Sesame Pancakes ($3.50 for three pieces) features savory flavors of pork, dried shrimp, mushroom and vegetables.

For something a little sweeter and infused with local flavors, bite into the Baked Taro Bun ($3.50 for three pieces). Filled with taro, its exterior includes egg whites and cream, marrying the flavors together in a slightly sweet, but not overpowering combination.

The restaurant’s menu extends beyond dim sum as well, to an extensive variety of other offerings.

The Golden Sea Bass ($21.95) includes a whole fish with a lemongrass and curry sauce.

The Roasted Crispy Beef Tenderloin ($20.95) also is something Chan recommends. Before being sliced into smaller pieces, beef is roasted to give it a crispy layer and tender meat. The restaurant’s sauce is a little spicy, giving the dish some heat.

If you’re a fan of bitter melon, Jade Dynasty also offers Bitter Melon Egg Foo Young ($14.95). Shrimp is mixed with egg foo young and sliced bitter melon, and the outcome is similar to an omelette.

The eatery is easy to spot in Hookipa Terrace on the fourth floor of Ala Moana Center, and ample parking throughout the mall is a plus.

You can find Jade Dynasty out in the community as well. On Oct. 12 the restaurant joins Iolani School in celebrating its 150th anniversary, and will also participate in an upcoming jazz festival in November.
