A Veggie Lovin’ Kitchen

One glance at the menu and it’s clear that the owners of Kit n Kitchen are determined to please every palate. Known for its Eurasian cuisine, the menu here is so packed with tantalizing dishes, it makes you wonder how they keep track of it all. Breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner, appetizers, house specials, sandwiches, chops, seafood, pizza, risotto … the list seems endless.

But, of course, there’s the eternal question: Do you have anything that doesn’t include meat or fish?

“I have Simply Garlic Vegetables,” replies Kit Yiu, who owns the eateries with wife May, the creative executive chef behind that intriguing menu.

Listed under Chef’s Spaghetti, Simply Garlic Vegetables ($11.95) features pasta tossed with sauteed onions, mushrooms, spinach and broccoli with just the right touch of garlic and olive oil.

“It’s pretty popular,” says Yiu, who adds that customers won’t want to miss Kit n Kitchen’s appetizer special: Buy two entrees and get an appetizer for just 99 cents! This is a great deal, as the appetizers usually run from $6 to $10 apiece. Included in the 99-cent deal is Eggplant with Olives — pan-seared eggplant bathed in homemade olive-shoyu sauce and topped with green onions. Prefer a pizza? The Mini Chef Pizza also is a 99-cent special appetizer, and although it’s topped with pepperoni, mushrooms and cheese, you can request the meat be omitted, and even the cheese.

Speaking of pizza, the Create Your Own Pizza menu is a fun feature. The 9-inch hand-rolled pizzas have a thin, crispy crust, and you have your choice of sauce — white, tomato or pesto tomato — and three ($9.95) or four ($10.95) toppings, which include onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, spinach, tomato, roasted garlic, pineapple, corn and olives.

This is one veggie-lovin’ kitchen. And now Kit n Kitchen has opened a new location in Pearl City, so if you’re in the neighborhood, stop on in.
