The kaiten-style sushi served at Genki Sushi has long been a local favorite in the islands, but did you know that the restaurant also has an array of desserts that everyone from keiki to kupuna will love?

The Cupcake Red Velvet ($3.80), Cupcake Peanut Butter ($3.80) and bitesized Sesame Balls ($2.20 for three) have been seen on the rotating belt, but there also are desserts that you can order from your server.

The Pumpkin Crunch ($4.80) is a featured item that combines pumpkin and vanilla ice cream with a caramel center all coated with a crisp crust. This hearty dessert makes you feel at home and is big enough to share.

“We just decided to try something different and people seem to like it, so we’ll probably bring it to the menu as a permanent item,” says director of purchasing David Moon. That’s good news, as it adds more selection to the sweet treats list.

Ice cream goodies also are available for purchase and include the Hawaiian Style Sherbert ($2.20), Green Tea Ice Cream ($2.20) and Oreo Ice Cream ($2.80), which is a hit with the kids. The ever-popular Mochi Ice Cream ($3.80 for two) is available in strawberry, chocolate and vanilla.

Another customer favorite is the Taiyaki Ice Cream ($2.80). It’s shaped like a fish and has vanilla ice cream and red azuki bean at its center.

And for those who really enjoy their azuki beans, the Daifuku ($2.80) comes with a mochi rice flour outside and azuki red bean paste inside. Daifuku means “great luck” in Japanese and you’ll definitely feel lucky after eating this treasure at your local Genki Sushi.

Customers always come first at Genki Sushi and the staff will make sure that you not only eat a great meal, but also leave with a tummy filled with superb desserts.

Genki translates to “good” or “healthy” in Japanese, and after dining at Genki Sushi you’re certain to leave with a very satisfied tummy.
