No Worry, There’s Beef Curry to Go

We can all relate to having hectic schedules and mile-long to-do lists, so wouldn’t it be great to find a no-brainer lunch that’s so tasty it actually gives you an enjoyable break in the day? Shabu Shabu House’s takeout menu, debuting June 25, gives you convenience when you need it and a burst of flavor when you need it most.

After friends and family encouraged Kazuyo Makita to share her beloved curry recipe, the restaurant manager knew her Kobe Curry ($7.95) would be just the thing to satisfy Kapiolani Boulevard’s crowd of business people who come into the eatery looking for a quick bite. She’ll serve the Japanese-style curry to anyone who’s on-the-go during Shabu Shabu’s lunch hours (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) or until the pot is empty.

According to Makita, Kobe Curry is a spicy food-lover’s dream, as it’s made with a healthy dose of heat. “Curry rice is supposed to be spicy!” she says with a laugh. And the heat-enthusiast will put some extra spice into any order upon request.

Adding quality to flavor, the dish is made with Kobe-style Washugyu beef and rib eye, which lend to its supremely rich character. To complement the high-quality meat, it also features an array of vegetables such as mushrooms, onion, celery and carrots. Enjoy rice and fukujin zuke (pickled radish) on the side as you spice up your afternoon.

And don’t forget to order an Ice Coffee ($3.50) to go — it will give you the energy you need to finish up the day. This strong blend of French-roasted coffee is sweetened with your choice of French vanilla, hazelnut or regular cream, as well as homemade liquid sugar.
