On weekday nights, even after the typical dinner rush hours, the ever-popular Shabu Shabu House still brings in customers in droves.
Kris and Dan Tanioka, seated, are joined by friends Tamra Nakai and Josie Uyeda at their favorite do-it-yourself restaurant, Shabu Shabu House.
It seems that this is the place to be, and it’s easy to see why. Shabu Shabu House is DIY done right. It offers vegetables and meats — both of which you cook for yourself right there at your table.
Order a meal with beef ($15.95), pork ($15.95), vegetables ($15.95), seafood ($21.75), Angus rib-eye ($24.95), or Kobe beef ($34.95). Each set also comes with udon, gyoza, tofu, zucchini, pumpkin, cabbage and an array of dipping sauces, including sesame, ponzu and ginger.
Dining Out recently dropped in at the restaurant and found four regulars — Dan Tanioka, Kris Tanioka, Tamra Nakai and Josie Uyeda — on hand to celebrate birthdays. The friends agreed that out of all the places offering similar food and similar DIY treats, Shabu Shabu House is the place they prefer.
All four ordered the beef set ($15.95), which the friends say is one of their stand-by favorites.
Tamra Nakai: “Shabu Shabu has good prices, good food and good service. We come here all the time. We always get the beef set.”
Dan Tanioka: “We keep coming back here because we like the sauces. The sauces they offer here are not like anywhere else. All three of them are really good.”
