With a diverse menu featuring everything from Korean-style plates to sushi and the freshest local fish sourced daily from the fish auction, Honu’s Kalbi & Sushi is quickly gaining a loyal following among local diners.
Guests rave about the Kapahulu Avenue restaurant’s variety, portion sizes and pricing, as well as the friendly customer service and ability to order items to-go or enjoy while dining in.
The Honu Special ($19.95) is a massive plate featuring kalbi, meat jun, fish jun and mandoo, while the Poke Combo ($18.95) and Sushi Bento Special ($16.95) feature multiple varieties of fresh fish. There is also a grab-and-go station that has an array of seafood items.
“We offer high-quality seafood, including fresh tuna from Hawaii, all while keeping the menu very affordable,” says owner Sam Seo. “Come check us out and enjoy good quality food.”
Seo has grown deep roots in the local culinary community through nearly 30 years working in the restaurant industry at the retail and wholesale levels. He previously owned popular takeout spot Ahi & Vegetable, and currently supplies meat and seafood on the wholesale market for local businesses, as well as some in the mainland. Additionally, his work as a fish auction buyer for more than 20 years helps him find the freshest fish available that he can pass on to customers at the best prices possible — a win-win for the business and guests.
As a special inside scoop for Dining Out readers, Honu’s Kalbi & Sushi is offering diners 10% off all items as part of its grand opening special promotion. Be sure to mention Dining Out when ordering!
