Honu’s Kalbi and Sushi is serving up summer with its meaty bentos and fresh fish dishes — perfect treats for customers who are looking to heat up and cool down during this hot season.

The popular Kalbi BBQ Plate ($21.95) is made with choice-grade meat. Other hot-ticket items are Meat Jun ($18.95) and Bento No. 8 ($18.95), which is served with ahi and salmon poke, and sashimi. These are just a few of the choice dishes owner Sam Seo has crafted for guests’ enjoyment.

“I’ve had a long history working with Japanese food and Korean food, and wanted to create a restaurant with both cuisines and also wanted a place where you can sit down and eat or grab a bento or a roll of sushi to go,” Seo says.

Honu’s Kalbi and Sushi has a little something for everyone such as Korean staples, sashimi and rolls, local favorites and box lunches. After ordering their meals, customers are welcome to dine inside the eatery or enjoy the breeze on the restaurant’s patio.

Seo says that he hopes guests will “enjoy food at both indoor and outdoor dining areas in comfort.”

“Two months ago, we opened this restaurant, but I’ve been working in the food industry for almost 30 years,” Seo says. “I want to eventually expand Honu’s Kalbi and Sushi to about five to seven locations, so people all over the island can enjoy the food.”
