Drinks served at Luna’s Tequila Ba

As a special inside scoop for Dining Out readers, a refreshing, new tequila bar beckons at Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. Luna’s Tequila Bar is a fun, playful pop-up concept inspired by Mexico City’s gastronomy and street food scene. The vibrant, tequila-focused menu highlights original craft cocktails, developed entirely in-house, ranging from a twist on the classic margarita with Strawberry Limonada ($15) crafted with 1800 Silver, muddled strawberries, agave nectar and fresh lemonade to Tequila Old Fashioned ($15) built with Añejo tequila, orange bitters and agave nectar. Luna’s also carries unique bottles from small-batch producers such as AsomBroso Tequila.

Barbacoa Taco ($4)

The street-food inspired menu includes a traditional molcajete guacamole and three types of tacos: Barbacoa Taco ($4) featuring slow-braised short ribs, white onion, cilantro and house-made salsa verde, as well as mole jidori chicken and tofu varieties. Luna’s is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and 5-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Tequila Old Fashioned ($15)

“We recently started offering a ‘celebrity tequila tasting,’ which has been very popular among our guests,” says area director of food and beverage Chase Heu. “From Kendall Jenner’s 818 to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Teremana Tequila, we carry a wide range of star-studded tequilas that our guests can experience in an interactive ‘blind’ tasting.”
