Enjoying barbecue and refreshing cold lemonade is a storied summertime activity, and that experience can be relived at longtime local favorite restaurant — Big City Diner.
When the friendly server asks for the drink selection, the secret menu Samurai Li-Hing Lemonade ($5.49) will quench thirsts with freshly squeezed lemons and house-made li hing mui syrup.
The Guava BBQ Baby Back Ribs ($39.99 “Big Slab,” $29.99 “Not So Big” Slab) also satisfies summer taste buds. Slow-roasted for five hours, the fall-off-the-bone ribs are smothered in a homemade mango guava barbecue sauce, infusing this classic American dish with a distinctly local flavor.
If you can’t get enough of that barbecue flavor, Big City Diner sells its Guava BBQ Sauce by the bottle at all restaurant locations.
Also available is the Family Rib Meal Deal ($84.99), serving four people with baby back ribs, spicy barbecue wings, spicy garlic soy beans, Tutu’s Caesar salad and roasted garlic mashed potatoes.
Another summertime favorite is the Upcountry BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad ($15.99). Grilled barbecue chicken breast, roasted corn, crispy sweet onions, avocado and tortilla strips adorn fresh chopped romaine lettuce, and the homemade barbecue ranch dressing adds a creamy sweet finish.
Are you looking to maintain your summertime beach body? Big City Diner collaborated with Dr. Jodi Nishida of The Keto Prescription to craft a diet-friendly menu, including the Grilled Tequila Chicken and Portobello Mushroom Stack ($17.99).
