A ‘mix’ of Asian flavors

Roasted Pork and Cold Ginger Chicken ($12.95)

Find delicious takeout options at Asian Mix, located on South Beretania Street. While the restaurant offers a variety of Asian flavors, its primary focus right now is Chinese cuisine.

Its Pork Chop with Salt and Pepper ($11.95) boasts crispy skin and comes with approximately eight pieces. The Singapore Style Rice Noodles ($9.95) feature Indian yellow curry and is served mild, but if patrons want a bit more spice, the restaurant can adjust accordingly.

Asian Mix’s Roasted Meat Plate ($12.95) is quite popular and allows guests to choose two meats — roasted duck, cold ginger chicken, barbecue pork, roasted pork or spareribs. The dish is served with generous portions and also includes vegetables and rice.

“This is one of the hottest items in the store now,” shares owner and general manager Daniel Leung. “Portion wise, it’s really good. A lot of construction guys come in and they order that.”

Leung explains that from day one, the eatery has always featured a takeout concept, but the quality of the food is that of a traditional sit-down restaurant.

“We have like seven cooks in the back,” Leung says. “It’s not fast-food. It’s basically cooked to order.”

Asian Mix, which will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, also offers catering. Its staff is known to work very quickly, with Leung noting that an order for 50 people could be ready for pickup in as little as an hour. For larger orders, Leung requests that guests call the restaurant in advance.
