A unique dinner experience

Dessert is included in the Ovation Wine Dinner ($65; wine pairing is an additional $35)

Discover delectable cuisine at Stage Restaurant, located on the second floor of Honolulu Design Center. On the last Tuesday of every month (with the exception of December) the restaurant gives diners the opportunity to try a brand-new menu for one night only via its Ovation Wine Dinners.

Guests can indulge in a specially curated meal — put together by either executive chef Ron de Guzman or sous chef Joy Yamane — based on that month’s particular theme.

“Personally, I love the reveal of the fixed menu. It adds an exciting element of surprise,” says creative director and owner Julia Sorensen Shaw.

The Ovation Wine Dinner ($65) boasts a unique four-course meal.

She also explains that the restaurant’s name boasts a special meaning.

“‘Stage’ plays on the theatrical sense of the meaning,” Shaw says. “All our dishes are pieces of art.The whole experience is very dramatic — an evening you’ll never forget.”

The event is not only a tasty experience for customers, but it is also a chance for the restaurant’s chefs to showcase their talents.

The Ovation Wine Dinner ($65) is offered on the last Tuesday of every month, except December.

“Our chefs are constantly trying new methods and ingredients to keep everything fresh and exciting,” Shaw shares.

On Jan. 25, de Guzman will be serving up modern American cuisine. The four-course meal can be paired with wine for an additional cost. The restaurant partners with Sky Cameron of Chambers and Chambers Wine Merchants, who selects the wine pairings for each dish. Cameron moves from table to table throughout the course of the evening to explain each pairing and provide some history about that particular wine.
