Kalapawai Cafe and Deli rolled out its new fall menu last week at its Kailua and Kapolei locations, and along with nightly meat and seafood specials, diners can look forward to gourmet comfort food amid a casual fine-dining experience.

The popular restaurants offer breakfast, lunch and full-service dinner seven days a week. The Kailua location will celebrate its 15th anniversary on Dec. 4, while the Kapolei eatery opened five years ago. Kalapawai’s newest location just opened in Waimanalo last December with casual counter service available daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Guests are invited to try Auction Fresh Fish ($26, available at Kailua and Kapolei), Kalapawai’s signature dish served over lemongrass risotto, sautéed kale, local mushrooms, micro cilantro and red curry aioli. Housemade Okinawan Sweet Potato Gnocchi ($19) is accompanied by peas, roasted mushrooms, sweet corn, heirloom baby carrots and a red bell pepper cream sauce. This vegetarian option is available at the Kailua location only.

Curried Vegetable Stew ($20, available at Kailua and Kapolei) features zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, carrots, bell peppers, cauliflower, chickpeas and cilantro yogurt chutney served with saffron jasmine rice (vegetarian and vegan options without chutney). These and other menu selections can be enjoyed via dine-in, takeout, curbside pickup and delivery service, through in-person and streamlined online ordering.

“We have amazing support from our long-term guests and have had a number of new guests become die-hard fans,” says operations manager Kat Moon.
