Lunchbox ($16)

Way back in 2013, co-owners Miles Oyasato and Ty Takishita unveiled their eatery Kau Kau Grill.

Ever since its origins, the Mapunapuna Street restaurant has been luring in hungry customers with its glorious protein-packed plates.

Everything at the eatery is crafted in-house, and only the freshest ingredients are used. One great grab and go item available is Kau Kau Grill’s Bento ($18). It has luscious barbecue baby back ribs, pulehu beef short ribs and garlic shrimp.

The baby back ribs are slowly cooked and receive a nice char when grilled. Next, they are doused with mouthwatering housemade barbecue sauce.

Hefty pulehu short ribs are sprinkled with a special seasoned salt-and-pepper mix before being charred on the grill.

Meanwhile, the “surf” accompanying this “turf” dish features plump, juicy shrimp that are cooked with a zesty housemade puree of garlic and adorned with parsley.

Another great plate from Kau Kau Grill is the Lunchbox ($16).

It comes with those marvelous barbecued ribs, pulehu beef short ribs and smoked meat.

The restaurant’s smoked meat is highly admired by patrons, as it is skillfully cooked and mixed with delicious caramelized onions.

The prices on the Kau Kau Grill Bento and the Lunchbox reflect a $2 discount, which is valid until the end of April, Oyasato shares.

There’s even more great news, because the restaurant also does catering for those who wish to customize orders to their personal desires.
