Store manager Chentel Richards showcases Zippy’s Christmas options.

Whether ordering a full-on feast or individual to-go plates, one can always expect the same great quality and amazing flavors that Zippy’s is known for. As we find ourselves in the near-middle of December, there’s still time to order and save on a festive Christmas package from Zippy’s.

First up is the Christmas Luau ($114.95, order online by 5 p.m. Dec. 14; $129.95, phone or in-person) that serves six to eight, and comes refrigerated and ready to reheat. Expect 2 pounds of kalua pig, eight pieces of lau lau, 3 1/2 pounds of chicken long rice, 3 pounds of luau stew, 2 pounds of lomi salmon and eight pieces of haupia.

“We wanted to offer something fun and different for Christmas,” shares Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki, marketing manager at FCH Enterprises, Inc. “We also wanted to offer our customers something that reminded them of parties and gatherings, even if they can only gather virtually this year. Get a luau package for yourself, and for your family and friends, and then host your own virtual backyard luau.”

Add-ons for the Christmas Luau — you know you want some of these — include a 1-pound bag of poi ($7.95) and maki sushi roll ($5.59, uncut).

Speaking of sushi, Zippy’s has unveiled its new Deluxe Holiday Sushi Platter ($41.50) that comes with 16 pieces of spicy ahi maki sushi, 16 pieces of California maki sushi, and six pieces of somen inari sushi — order three days in advance.

“For years, we’ve offered our regular sushi platter with maki sushi, inari sushi, takuan and cucumber teppo maki,” explains Mamiya-Kalahiki. “This year we decided to add a Deluxe Sushi Platter.”

It wouldn’t be a Zippy’s Christmas without even more dining options. Christmas turkey packages are also up for grabs (see the sidebar at left for prices). Turkey packages (excludes Whole Turkey Only) come with poultry gravy, real mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry pineapple relish and King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls. (Add on a maki sushi roll, mashed potatoes, poultry gravy, a sushi platter or deluxe sushi platter for additional costs.)

Zippy’s Christmas Luau comes with lomi salmon, but poi and sushi rolls can be included for additional costs.

“The turkey packages were very popular for Thanksgiving and we sold out early,” adds Mamiya-Kalahiki. “There were many who missed out, so we wanted to offer it again for them, or for those who just love turkey and want more. Our turkey packages are so easy to reheat, it’s hard to mess up!”

While these takeout packages are perfect for a family feast at home, Zippy’s is also in the process of reopening its dining rooms for guests.

“Zippy’s is so grateful to our customers who have supported us through these challenging times,” Mamiya-Kalahiki concludes. “We have reopened most of our dine-in restaurants and have strict safety practices in place. Our employees are excited to welcome you back to the ohana!”
