Big meals, deals at local eatery

Krabby Cake Sandwich ($5)

As November begins, Big City Diner has prepared a little something for diners ahead of its traditional Thanksgiving blowout.

Starting tomorrow (Nov. 2), takeout diners can order a $5 Krabby Cake Sandwich special — a plump, succulent deep-fried crabcake topped with Sriracha aioli and a sweet chili slaw atop a grilled potato bun.

This deal is valid only on Mondays and Tuesdays in November — so keep a close eye on the calendar.

In the meantime, however, Big City Diner is gearing up for its annual Thanksgiving Big Meal To-Go.

As per usual, patrons can expect a veritable feast if they choose to let Big City Diner take care of holiday prep: 5-6 pounds of roasted turkey (about half the bird), 1.5 pounds of Portuguese sausage stuffing, 2 pounds of garlic smashed potatoes, 2 pounds of gravy and 1.5 pounds of baked cane sugar cinnamon sweet potatoes, plus roasted corn and butter, cranberry-pineapple relish and eight pieces of macadamia nut pumpkin crunch.

It’s a whopping deal for just $124.99 (or $169.99 if you want the whole turkey). Orders must be placed in advance and picked up at Big City Diner’s Kailua, Pearlridge East, Waipio and Windward Mall locations.

And, of course, those who want a smaller version of the Big Meal have the option of dining in at Big City Diner on Thanksgiving Day, where they can partake of the Oven Roasted Turkey Special ($21.99) — the same meal, in a single-person serving (keiki size available for $11.99).
