From its perch on North Nimitz Highway, New Eagle Café has been a go-to spot for anyone craving good eats — with that Hawaii-style twist kamaaina are so fond of.

“It’s local style all the way,” says owner Tae Im. “Just classic comfort food.”

The biz is open for takeout, though Im notes that customers should check the website (neweaglecafehawaii.com) to see what’s currently available. He also adds that coupons and Groupons are not being accepted for takeout orders.

Though limited in its menu offerings at this time, New Eagle Café has done its best to maintain a variety of food items, including breakfast staples like steak and eggs, pancake combos — try the Macadamia Nut Hotcake Combo ($10.75) to satisfy your sweet tooth — omelets and more.

But it doesn’t stop there. Opt for a local fave like the Loco Moco ($13.25, price for lunch and dinner) that features a homemade patty and housemade gravy.

“It’s straightforward; it’s a classic,” says Im, who took over the business in 2012. “And we make it all in-house.”

Those hankering for some red meat will enjoy the Hawaiian Chopped Steak ($16.25) that’s made all the more popular thanks to the thin strips of beef that are the perfect combination of tender and juicy. Add in the fresh tomatoes, bell peppers and onions, and you have a sure winner for dinner — or whenever the craving hits.
