A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: M.A.C. MOMMA 5LB CHEESEBURGER CHALLENGE ($45)

Love is in the air, and M.A.C. 24/7 is celebrating the season. On Friday, Feb. 14, the restaurant is offering a Valentine’s Day Dinner for Two, available 5-9 p.m.

The meal starts off with a light appetizer to get palates revved up. Each guest may choose either the Island Mixed Greens with diced cucumber, grape tomatoes, carrot strings, Asian pears, shaved watermelon radish, Maui onions and xeres vinaigrette; or French Onion Soup that is topped with gruyere cheese crostini.

On to the next with the main entree course — each guest may choose one of the three options: Grilled Black Angus Filet of Beef, Pan Seared Breast of Chicken or Pan Seared Salmon.

The filet of beef is broiled to perfection and served alongside garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and caramelized shallot demi-glace. The chicken option, slathered in a creamy roasted alii mushroom-chive sauce, is also served with the same sides.

Meanwhile, the salmon mixes things up with accompaniments of coconut bamboo rice and mixed vegetables. It marinates in a yuzu-ginger butter sauce and is drizzled with a sweet soy reduction.

Finally, for dessert couples may share a Pina Colada Creme Brulee or a Malted Milk Chocolate Mousse.

The dinner is $99 per couple and $116 per couple to add a glass of sparkling wine for each. Reservations are recommended.

M.A.C. 24/7 also has other specials to enjoy weekly, such as Keiki Eat Free Sundays, Kamaaina Mondays, Industry Night Wednesdays and Senior Fridays.

And, don’t miss out on Pancake Day at the Waikiki eatery on Tuesday, Feb. 25 (Fat Tuesday). Guests can take the “pancake pledge” and M.A.C. 24/7 will donate a portion of all pancake sales to HUGS Hawaii, supporting families with children facing serious illnesses.

DO YOU DARE?

The challenge, should you choose to accept, is to finish The M.A.C. Momma in under 45 minutes — for everyone who does, the burger is free.

CRUNCH TO MUNCH

Forget the fries; this meal comes with a side of crisp and airy chicharon (pork rinds) with garlic shoyu-vinegar dipping sauce.

THE MAIN EVENT

In this massive burger, a 2-pound black Angus beef patty occupies a hefty amount of space between the 1 1/2 pounds of brioche bun.

STACKED AND PACKED

Also filling this dish is cheddar cheese, teriyaki sauce, Portuguese sausage, applewood smoked bacon, grilled pineapple rings, avocado, Kunia tomatoes, green leaf lettuce and crispy onion rings.

AND THE WINNERS ARE…

Marketing coordinator Mark Turina says, “So far there have been two winners, the first was a local boy from Haleiwa who finished in 40 minutes. The second was a female competitive eater from California who finished in 24 minutes. She returned a few days later for dessert, and finished the M.A.C. Daddy 5 LB Pancake Challenge in 25 minutes!”
