During New Mui Kwai Chop Suey Kailua’s 25th anniversary celebration, the restaurant is offering a customer appreciation special to mark the momentous occasion. For every $100 spent at the restaurant, diners will receive a $15 gift card to use during their next visit. Additionally, for every $225 spent, diners will receive $25 toward their next purchase — an incredible value that applies to the affordably priced menu.

Fang explains that the gift cards may also be used at the family’s bakery that is run by his wife — Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery at 1027 Maunakea St. in downtown Honolulu’s Chinatown area, which serves up an array of Chinese desserts, pastries, sweet-and-savory buns and more local favorites.

For the anniversary celebration at the Kailua restaurant, diners can enjoy specially priced dishes that guests have enjoyed over the decades. One of the most popular items is BBQ Minute Chicken Cake Noodle ($11.95), which features crisp noodles that are also moist thanks to a flavorful gravy. Then, completing the dish are fresh vegetables and tender pieces of chicken.

“Almost every single customer knows about this dish, and it’s one of our best sellers,” says Fang of the cake noodle specialty.

Another shrimp option is the Salt Pepper Garlic Kahuku Shrimp ($12.95). The kitchen team uses local ingredients whenever possible, and this dish is no exception as fresh Kahuku shrimp make this selection a must-try local favorite. Fresh chiles and some added spice gives this dish a nice kick.

And of course, Crispy Gau Gee (10 pieces for $8.95) is the perfect accompaniment to make one’s desired meal really something special with tremendous taste and value.

Diners also rave about the Oyster Sauce Chicken with Cake Noodle, which is specially priced at just $7.95 for a hearty portion, as well as Chinese Chicken Salad ($7.95), serving as another incredible deal served up at the longtime Kailua eatery.
