The Genki Sushi “Bullet Express” train continues to bring flavor and fun to each of its popular locations across Hawaii, including the bustling restaurant on Kapahulu that is just minutes away from Kaimuki, Waikiki and University of Hawaii Manoa.

Local diners are “all aboard” the train as patrons of all ages can look forward to the restaurant’s popular delivery system and an expansive menu that includes daily and seasonal specials. Most Genki Sushi locations across the state now offer the double-rail, “bullet train” sushi delivery configuration for convenient, ultra-fast ordering — a great way to identify and select one’s favorite choices. As part of the train-ordering process, diners can place orders via a touch screen panel and receive their fresh sushi favorites tableside.

“Genki has always remained affordable and family-oriented,” says David Moon, director of purchasing and operations for Genki Sushi. “We continue to look at updating the menu as culinary trends change, while keeping customer favorites for guests to enjoy.”

Fried Squid Combo ($3.95)

With eight locations on Oahu, as well as eateries on Kauai (Kukui Grove Shopping Center), Maui (Maui Mall) and Hawaii island (Kona and Hilo), Genki Sushi serves up flavorful sushi creations in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Diners may choose from a host of delicious sushi selections, rice bowls topped with local favorites, bento sets and even tasty desserts and beverages.

Genki Sushi offers a wide variety of nigiri, gunkan and roll sushi dishes, from simple favorites to extravagant creations. Spicy Tuna ($3.95 for two pieces of gunkan sushi) is a go-to choice, as is Ocean Salad ($1.95 for two pieces of gunkan sushi) as the seaweed is mixed with a sesame seed dressing.

California Roll ($2.95)

Ahi ($4.95 for two pieces of nigiri sushi) includes fresh ahi, while California Roll ($2.95 for four pieces or roll sushi) is crafted with imitation crab, avocado and cucumber. Rainbow Roll ($5.95 for four pieces) is nearly as colorful as it is flavorful as ahi, salmon and avocado are placed atop the roll with imitation crab and cucumber in the middle of this specialty sushi.

Fried Squid Combo ($3.95) is one of Genki’s best-selling fried items with squid rings and legs fried to golden-brown perfection atop a bed of cabbage along with lemon.

“We take pride in providing great customer service in a family-friendly environment — the kids really love dining with us,” says Nicole Aberilla, manager at the Kapahulu Genki Sushi location. “We have so many local favorites, such as the Spicy Tuna Ebi Fry Roll ($5.95) with the spicy tuna on top and shrimp in the middle. Kids look forward to our Hot Dog Sushi ($1.95) and Potato Fries ($2.95), and the adults enjoy our rolls and combos — there are so many choices for everyone.”

Ocean Salad ($1.95)

In addition to the great value across the menu, Genki Sushi offers a 10 percent discount for military members and seniors ages 55 and older. The discount is available Sunday-Thursday on dine-in orders only, and diners must show valid photo ID; may not be combined with any other discounts or promotions.

Genki Sushi offers an array of sushi platters that are perfect for get-togethers, tailgate parties, holiday celebrations, special occasions and everything in between. ° e popular Party Platter A, which includes 50 pieces of assorted sushi varieties, is available for just $60 and is ideal for the entire ohana as multiple varieties such as Tekka Maki, Ahi, Ika, Tako and Ebi are featured. Party Platter B ($42) is another favorite among local diners as they can enjoy an assortment of 42 pieces such as California Roll and Spicy Tuna.
