Italian favorites await at revamped Manoa pizzeria

Thursday is National Cheese Pizza Day, and the perfect way to celebrate is as simple as enjoying a slice (or a few!) of delicious pizza from J&B Pizza.

Located in Manoa Marketplace, the pizzeria occupies the storefront that previously housed Serino’s Pizza, and has garnered a loyal following of Italian food lovers.

When Serino’s was on the verge of closing its doors for good, J&B Pizza owners Jason Nomura and Brian Flanders (they make up the J&B) got together and bought the pizza-making equipment from the previous owner so that they could “Keep the dough going.” The restaurateurs say both new and loyal customers that diners can look forward to the same great pizza, but with a different name.

After opening as J&B Pizza in February, customers continue to rave about the delicious pizza, which is made with fresh dough and baked at 575 degrees. Diners are encouraged to follow J&B’s charge of making “Pizza the way you love it” by adding toppings to create the ideal pie.

Whether it’s Cheese Pizza ($3.50 per slice), Supreme Pizza ($4.50 per slice), Pepperoni Pizza ($4 per slice) or one of many additional local favorites, the entire family will enjoy the multitude of options.

J&B Pizza is offering a new Pizza Happy Hour. Diners can pick up slices of Cheese Pizza for just $2 per slice every Monday through Thursday from 4-6 p.m. And, in honor of National Pizza Day on Thursday, diners can pick up any pizza of any size for just $20!

“What hooked me about our pizza, and it was a pleasant surprise, is how good it is compared to other pizzas,” Nomura says. “You can really taste the difference, especially because we use fresh dough and get a lot of our vegetables from local sources and farmer’s markets when possible.”

J&B Pizza also offers Italian favorites including Stromboli ($12, add $1 per extra ingredient), which is similar to a calzone and stuffed with pizza sauce and toppings — including one’s favorite cheeses and meats that are baked to melted perfection.
