‘Fall’ For these Specials

Zippy’s Restaurants continues to perpetuate the local tradition of serving Hawaii’s favorite food coupled with stellar customer service — a custom that was born 52 years ago when Francis and Charlie Higa opened the first Zippy’s Restaurant in the McCully area.

This month Zippy’s is rolling out tons of Fall specials. One is the popular Spaghetti & Chicken Mixed Plate, which now can be enjoyed for just $7.88 at the fast food counter and $9 at the dine-in restaurant (until Oct. 31). The local favorite includes spaghetti and meat sauce, golden fried chicken and a slice of garlic bread. As a reminder, prices vary at neighbor island locations.

“We have consistently strived to maintain our food quality and the great local tastes that have helped build our reputation throughout the years, especially with our signature items,” says Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki, marketing manager at Zippy’s Restaurants. “Times have changed, but what remains consistent is good quality, great taste, and service with aloha.”

As the seasons shift from summer to fall, and temperatures begin to cool off, Zippy’s is introducing a new item — Kalua Pig Jook ($8.83 fast food, $10.15 dine-in), which incorporates delicious kalua pig in the popular porridge-like soup. The special comfort food classic is available daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. through Oct. 31 (while supplies last).

As local diners prepare for the exciting yet hectic holiday season, Zippy’s is offering its popular Thanksgiving Meals to Go as a way to take the stress and mess out of planning a memorable dining experience.

Starting Oct. 8, Thanksgiving preorders will be accepted via zippys.com, and by ordering the special Thanksgiving package online, you can save up to $15. For instance, one can preorder the Whole Turkey Package ($117.95 by phone or in store) that includes a 10-12 pound (cooked weight) whole roast turkey that is fully cooked and easy to reheat, 4 pounds of poultry gravy, 4 pounds of real mashed potatoes, 3 pounds of stuffing, 1 pound of cranberry/pineapple relish, and a dozen King’s Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls for just $102.95 when ordered online.

Kalua Pig Jook ($8.83 fast food, $10.15 restaurant)

Desserts continue to draw rave reviews at Zippy’s, as is the case with new sweet sensations that incorporate October’s flavor of the month — ube. Through Oct. 31, diners can indulge in Ube Napple ($2.95), Ube Roll ($1.95) and Ube Coconut Tart ($2.85).

The purple yam’s distinct vivid lavender color appeases the eye almost as much as the awesome flavors presented within these new dessert items.

Zippy’s also is offering an Apple Fritter Donut ($1.40, available through Oct. 31), which serves as the perfect end to one’s dining experience, or as a savory snack any time of the day. These dessert selections are available at all Napoleon’s Bakery locations at Zippy’s.
