LET’S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: New York’s Finest ($11.95, 10-inch), Garlic Parmesan Wings ($6.75 for six, $5.75 happy hour), Heineken Draft Beer ($3.75 glass, $2.75 happy hour)

With industrial design elements and images of New York displayed on the walls, newly opened Yellow Cab Pizza Co. easily whisks patrons away from the bustle of Costco Iwilei’s parking lot. It’s almost as if you took the subway train to “flavortown,” as Food Network star Guy Fieri would say.

At the eatery, which opened in January, indulge in New York-style pizza, pasta, wings, salads and beverages, and take advantage of Yellow Cab’s daily happy hour from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. During that time, enjoy wings for $5.75 (six pieces), regularly $6.75, and beers on draft for $2.75 per glass, regularly $3.75 (pitcher specials also available).

As the first U.S. franchise, the restaurant hopes to continue to expand across the country, offering dishes such as Charlie Chan ($8.95), a pasta dish with an Asian twist, and, of course, its selection of pizzas, which range from classic to craft and even “rolled pizzas” — a thin-crust pizza cut into long strips that customers fill with ingredients and roll up, like a burrito, before eating.

For something more conventional, opt for New York’s Finest (available in three sizes) from the classics menu, which packs all the ingredients one can think of onto one pie.

“We’re known for plentiful toppings, and they go all the way to the edge,” explains general manager Maly San Luis. “There’s no crust-edge at the end that a lot of people tend to throw away.”

Lastly, you can plan your next party at Yellow Cab, as the spacious spot offers a private dining area for up to 35, and can even utilize the entire restaurant space for special events, easily accommodating up to 100 guests. For these occasions, consider the Pizza Party Package ($122.50), which can feed up to 10 and includes three 14-inch pizzas of your choice, four pastas, 10 sodas and 10 gelato desserts. Add-ons also are available for an extra charge.
