A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: Combo No. 3 ($56) with a side order of Stir-fried String Beans with Garlic ($12)

Meat lovers have their slabs of steaks, chops and ribs, satisfying their cravings with roasted, grilled and smoked selections of every variety. But while products from the land are highly coveted, to many diners it’s the sea that holds the most prized dining treasures.

On Oahu, there are a few places to choose from to get your seafood fix, but none offer the unique taste and quality experience that Cajun King provides. Having just opened in Kaimuki (other locations in Waimalu and Kaneohe) last October, the ocean-themed eatery serves customers always-fresh crab, lobster, crawfish, shrimp, clams and more.

Diners can order their selections a la carte or in combos to share. For the combos, expect a large bowl overflowing with delectable seafood to arrive at your table. Crackers, scissors and other seafood tools are provided, including bibs — which you’ll definitely need.

One thing to remember while dining at Cajun King is to not be afraid of getting a little messy. On top of cracking and peeling, you’ll also be slurping, as your seafood comes generously drenched in one of the restaurant’s irresistible seasoning sauces. All selections can be taken up a notch with a little, or a lot, of heat from Cajun King’s spice levels, which range from “none” to “volcanic.”

Complete your meal with any one of the restaurant’s fresh appetizers, including raw oysters and clams, or opt for a side dish from the Asian-style Specials menu, such as Black Bean Calms, Ginger and Green Onion Lobster, and Spicy Eggplant.
