Tempura lovers can rejoice once they step into Tempura Ichidai at Ala Moana Center. Besides the authentic and modern Japanese ambiance, the invigorating aroma of crunchy temptations welcomes hungry diners into the spacious eatery.

Since opening this past January, the restaurant has showcased a mouthwatering menu (set courses and a la carte available) filled with the best of tempura offerings. The eatery’s main concept is absolute freshness. Instead of serving all your tempura at once, the restaurant fries each item individually so that all orders are as fresh as possible. Additionally, customers may watch their meals being made right before their eyes.

“It’s like tempura heaven,” says marketing and sales manager Keiko Sugai. “We serve little by little so that you can always enjoy it fresh.”

While Tempura Ichidai serves go-to favorites such as shrimp and vegetable tempura, you also can find some locally inspired options like island-grown kale and heart of palm. And starting sometime next month, Tempura Ichidai will be debuting brand-new items on its a la carte menu to satisfy more of your tempura cravings.

But if you’re looking for an indulgent meal right away, start with the Tokusen Course. Just one of many set meals available at the eatery, this selection comes with a variety of tempura, a few veggie delights and a small serving of tsukemono, green onions and wasabi.
