A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: Miso Butterfish Teishoku ($25)

If local comfort food is your thing, look no further than New Eagle Café and its time-honored specialties. Known for providing a mixture of dishes that pleases the palate, the restaurant has been satisfying customers’ cravings since the 1950s.

“It’s a restaurant that has a lot of history,” says owner Tae Im. “It’s been around at this particular location since the mid-’80s.”

Conveniently located on North Nimitz Highway, New Eagle Café welcomes patrons to a friendly and casual atmosphere, and features a menu replete with dishes for every type of appetite. Two customer favorites are Prime Rib and Oxtail Soup. Another is the ever-scrumptious Miso Butterfish Teishoku. Aside from miso butterfish, this dish includes delicious bites of shrimp and vegetable tempura, plus ahi sashimi. It also comes with miso soup, rice, tsukemono, tossed salad and a beverage.

And the best thing about this meal? It will make you want to come back to New Eagle Café for more.
