What started off 15 years ago as a small downtown shop now is an eclectic eatery that offers a menu anyone can enjoy. Aja Sushi & Bento has a total of three locations: Makai Market Food Court at Ala Moana Center, on the third floor of Ala Moana Building and University of Hawaii at Manoa Campus Center.

Since its establishment, the eatery happily serves local customers while also keeping them a part of its history. Owner and manager Lauren Yoo says customers have helped perfect a lot of recipes over the years by adding homey touches to the dishes. “Our food is really what a local mom would cook at home,” says Yoo.

Favorites include Spam musubi and Korean sushi. All dishes are made with fresh and local ingredients, complete with tasty sides, including 11 different veggie options. A few popular selections are Garlic Chicken, Salmon, Long Rice Noodles, Choy Sum and Daikon Kim Chee.

Diners can choose among a two-choice plate, three-choice plate or mini plate. Now, as a special for January, for every two-choice plate purchased at Aja Sushi & Bento’s food court location, customers get a complimentary medium drink.
