After capitalizing on the Cajun-style seafood-boil craze that is sweeping the culinary landscape, Raging Crab continues to serve up waves of flavorful favorites for local diners.

Raging Crab was introduced by co-owners J.C. “Moto” Chow and Steven “Sean” Saiki as a destination for families and friends alike to embark on a true “hands-on” dining experience. The Keeaumoku Street eatery celebrates its second anniversary this month, and has developed a loyal following by preparing fresh seafood and tasty accompaniments with quality ingredients, all within an inviting, family-friendly environment.

“You’ll be literally eating off the table. We give you bibs and gloves if you’d like, but most people like to dive right in,” says Chow of the dining adventure in which plates and forks are unnecessary. “It’s really an experience. You can get messy. The table looks like a disaster after a meal, but that’s the fun part.”

Raging Crab’s ordering process is simple: customers select a desired seafood choice, including Dungeness Crab ($45 each), King Crab Legs ($35 per pound) or Snow Crab Legs ($17.99 per pound), then choose a desired seasoning (garlic butter, lemon pepper, raging Cajun or “the works”) and pair with spice level (mild, medium, hot or ghost chili pepper).

“Our house sauce, called “the works,” has become so popular, and combines the three sauces that we carry,” Chow explains. “There are similar restaurants out there, but our customers tell us that the sauce brings them back here.”

Customers may also enjoy additional Raging Crab favorites, such as Shigoku Oysters ($32/dozen, $18/half dozen) served with tobiko, green onions and ponzu sauce, or Furikake Shrimp ($12) — a bountiful portion of deep-fried whole shrimp, seasoned to perfection with furikake, salt and pepper. Raging Hoagies ($9.99 each, available through 5 p.m.) serve as ideal lunch options, as customers choose from catfish, fried shrimp, fried oyster or chicken sandwich on toasted bread, accompanied by fresh lettuce, melted cheese and savory sauce, along with a helping of Cajun fries.

As a way to thank its ever-growing customer base, Raging Crab is offering a special Hot Deal Lunch Combo for two, available for purchase now through July 23 at midnight via HotDealsHawaii.com. The deal is good for a special combo $40 voucher for only $20 and includes: Snow Crab legs, shrimp, six Cajun sausages, two half pieces of corn-on-the-cob, six small potatoes and two orders of rice served in a choice of seasoning and sauce, along with a Fried Basket (choice of hot wings, chicken tenders, calamari, catfish or fried shrimp served on a bed of Cajun fries). The voucher may be redeemed from July 24-Jan. 31, 2015 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. As a reminder, one voucher may be redeemed per party, per visit (tax and tip are not included).

Raging Crab also offers a special coupon in MidWeek and the TGIF section of Friday’s Star-Advertiser for a free order of Cajun Fries with a one-pound seafood purchase. This deal is available through July 31 and, like the Hot Deal, is not combinable with any other discounts or promotions.

Happy hour specials are also available from 2 to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Walk-ins are welcomed, and those with large parties are advised to call ahead.
