Don’t let the name deceive you. Here at Mini Garden Orient & Vegetarian Cuisine, the eatery is big on taste and value, as customers have come to appreciate its excellent customer service and memorable dining experience.

Conveniently located on South Beretania Street, Mini Garden is surrounded by ample parking, including stalls in an adjacent lot and along the street. Owner Kana Zheng and chef De Hui recently acquired the restaurant and renovated the space to give it a revamped look, while still offering flavorful cuisine that new and loyal customers have come back for again and again. The extensive menu features a host of fresh flavors that continue to gain popularity by the forkful.

“We offer a different experience than you will find in Chinatown,” Zheng says.

Mini Garden is on a roll with its iconic Crispy Shrimp Balls ($8.95 for four pieces), as diners dig into hearty portions of juicy diced shrimp without any added salt or MSG surrounded by a crispy, crunchy shell that blends two enticing textures. Customers also rave about Garlic Lup Chong Fried Rice ($8.95), which includes savory Chinese sausage incorporated with the bold flavor of fried garlic.

In addition to the 200-plus menu items, Mini Garden continues to introduce special dishes to keep the dining experience fresh. Zheng explains that Steamed Fish Fillet with Black Bean Sauce ($15) is a flavorful yet healthy option, as the tender fish is served atop tofu. Stir-Fried Spicy Cabbage ($7.50) is just one of many vegetarian dishes that grace the menu. The dish is prepared Szechuan style, known for bold-flavors and infusion of spices.

Dining Out readers are encouraged to take advantage of a special Mini Garden Hot Deal available now through Wednesday, June 18 at www.HotDealsHawaii.com. The special offer is good for a $24 voucher for just $14 and can be redeemed through June 2015. As a reminder: Guests may redeem the Hot Deal for dine-in purchases and must present voucher when ordering; one voucher per table, per visit; the offer is not valid on major holidays and does not apply to live seafood such as lobster or crab; tax and tip not included; deal may not be combined with other specials, discounts or coupons.

Zheng also explains that diners who spend $50 or more on a dine-in purchase will receive a complimentary half Roast Chicken ($14 value). Also, to sweeten the deal, diners who purchase a dine-in entree receive a complimentary dessert.
